The contract utility worker from the Davis H. Elliott Company that was electrocuted on the job Tuesday remains hospitalized.

Media spokesman with Kentucky Utilities (KU), Daniel Lowry, told the Middlesboro Daily News that the contractor was flown out from the University of Tennessee Medical Center to Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Wednesday.

“At last check, the prognosis is good,” Lowry said. “He was alert and talking but remains hospitalized and is being treated. The extent of the injuries though is unknown.”

The name of the injured contractor is not being released at this time. A call was also made to the Davis H. Elliott Company but has not yet been returned.

The incident occurred at Rice Hill Road and Green Camp Road in the Arjay Community of Bell County while working on a main line.

Power in the area was out leaving approximately 1,800 customers without electricity. Following an investigation by KU, power was restored by 4:30 pm.
