A Kentucky Utilities worker was flown to a Knoxville hospital Tuesday afternoon after being shocked while working in the Arjay community of Bell County.

The identity of the employee and the extent of the injuries has not been released yet. The worker was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville for treatment.

Nearly 1,700 people and two schools in the Bell County area lost power because of the incident.

According to the Kentucky Utilities outage map, power was expected to be restored by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Middlesboro Daily News contacted Kentucky Utilities for additional information but has not received a returned phone call.
