Family engagement is a key ingredient to educating our kids. It is imperative from the top down in a community as well as in a school district that everyone is involved in engaging parents in the educational process of their children.

The Middlesboro Independent School District has declared Nov. 10-13 as Family Engagement Week to increase awareness and engage families.

Remember, family members go beyond a bloodline. Family may be someone willing to lend a hand at the moment you need help. Mentors are the key ingredient in many successful persons’ lives.

There will be several family engagement activities going on this week at each school.

Middlesboro, with funding from GEAR UP, has hired Sally Adams, a family engagement specialist.

Signing of the proclamation will be held at 10 a.m. on Nov. 12 at the Middlesboro High School in the library.
