HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Paul V. Hamilton School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and The LMU Players will stage a dinner theater production of Our Town, Thursday through Saturday, November 1-3, and Thursday and Friday, November 8-9, at 6 p.m. at the Cumberland Gap Convention Center.
Assistant Professor of Theater Joe Gill directs the production of American playwright Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer prize-winning play Our Town, a 1938, three-act play. It tells the story of the fictional American small town of Grover’s Corners through the everyday lives of its citizens. This play follows two families, the Gibbs and the Webbs, through the cycle of life from daily moments to love and marriage until the hereafter. The actors will perform this momentous American drama without a set on a mostly bare stage. With a few exceptions, the actors mime actions without the use of props. The audience will use their imagination and memory during this metatheatrical production where characters make reference to being in a play. Running time is about 110 minutes for the two acts and an intermission.
All dinner tickets are $20. Non-dinner tickets purchased in advance are $7, $5 for college and high schools students and free for LMU students, faculty and staff with ID and children under 12. Non-dinner tickets are $10 cash at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. Dinner starts at 6 p.m and the show follows at 7 p.m.
