Motorists traveling through Middlesboro are seeing progress in the asphalt resurfacing project that is currently being done to U.S. 25E.
Work on the stretch of highway, that begins at the Cumberland Gap Tunnel and extends just north of Happy Hollow Road, began on Sept. 18 and is expected to wrap up on Sept.30. The asphalt resurfacing operations begin each day at 7 p.m. and last throughout the night until 7a.m.
The dates, time and the span of the work being done could be modified due to inclement weather or any other delays in the process of completing the project.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is advising motorists to use caution and observe safe driving habits when traveling through the work zones. Delays can be expected during the resurfacing operations.
