During the month of October, Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKCTC) and Selling to the World will offer free workshops on the SKCTC Middlesboro and Whitesburg campuses: “Behind the Scenes with Kentucky Educational Television.”
According to Selling to the World Director Jeannie Allen, “This is a great opportunity for our students and for people in the community. Whether they are interested in a career in video production, have questions, or are just curious about how the pros do it, this workshop will have lots of great information.”
Video production is a field that can potentially open up various opportunities for those interested in pursuing that path. For those who aren’t opposed to a commute, Knoxville is home to various production facilities and such as Jewelry TV and The Travel Channel, which has its headquarters in Knoxville.
Generallly speaking, a career in video production can branch off into many avenues such as becoming a lighting technician, an editor, program researcher and even a web content manager.
The workshop will cover topics such as careers in production; basic camera, lighting, and sound techniques; and green screen use.
Middlesboro’s event will be held 5:30-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 in the Troy Welch Allied Science Building Room 217. Whitesburg’s will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 23 in the Belinda Mason Building, Room 122.
