One of the two inmates who escaped the Bell County Detention Center on Tuesday has been apprehended.

Bell County Jailer Gary Ferguson stated that David Mosley, 41, and Matthew Price, 45, allegedly attacked jail employees to make their escape. The attack was violent enough to need medical attention at the Pineville Community Hospital. One employee was allegedly sprayed in the eyes with bleach. The other allegedly had broken ribs.

A report by WYMT stated that the two men built some sort of plastic device to escape their cell. The spray that was used on one of the assaulted staff members was a mix of bleach, water and what is believed to be some type of pepper from the food court.

Yesterday afternoon, Mosley was found in the Wallsend community by authorities and brought back to the Bell County Detention Center to face new charges along with the ones he was already in jail serving.

He was charged with second-degree escape and assault on jail staff. Other charges may still be forthcoming. He was originally jailed on charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving a stolen firearm, drug trafficking and possession.

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office, the Pineville Police Department and Kentucky State Police Trooper Don Perry assisted in the arrest of Mosley.

Matthew Price is still at large at this time.
