Beautification for Middlesboro

An ongoing goal for Middleboro Main Street and its partners and sponsors is the revamping of the downtown area. With events such as the Levitt AMP Music Series, the Wing Fling and other events gaining more and more ground with the community from year to year, a face lift for the city is in order.
Part of the revitalization of any downtown area comes with cleanup efforts. Trash and other detritus can quickly become out of hand.
On July 14, Main Street Middlesboro will be hosting Community CleanUP in preparation for the fourth annual Levitt event.
The event will involve picking up trash, sweeping sidewalks, pulling weeds and generally making the downtown area more picturesque.
“Basically, we are just wanting to pull the community together and make the Downtown as clean as possible before Levitt begins. We have been contacted by many out of town guests who will be coming to watch the show, some of which are eight hours away,” said Main Street Middlesboro Director Emily Ayers. “So while they are coming to our downtown for the concerts, we want to give them the best impression we can of our beautiful historic downtown.
“We are asking all volunteers and community organizations to bring what supplies they can. We will only have a few things available on site. Community Care Outreach will be providing a free lunch to all those who come out.”
The project will begin at 9 a.m. and run through noon. The meeting place is Fountain Square on Cumberland Avenue.
