Arts in the Gap hosting summer programs

HARROGATE, Tenn. — Lincoln Memorial University’s (LMU) Arts in the Gap is kicking off summer activities and offering a large variety of workshops, programs and performances ranging from music camps, theater workshops, writing festivals and visual art classes through July 27.

The schedule includes:

• June 9-13, Playwright Intensive (Lisa Soland),

• June 14, Ten-minute play festival (free to watch),

• June 11-15, Drawing for Kids (first through fifth graders), 9 to 11 a.m.

• June 15-17, Mountain Heritage Literary Festival,

• June 17-22, Gap Creek Writers Studio.

• June 17-23, Appalachian Young Writers Workshop.

• June 18-21, Soap Stone Sculpture (for teens and adults), 9:30 to 3:30 a.m.

• June 18-22, Fine Arts Camp at LMU, class time 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday (ninth through 12th graders and young adults).

• June 18-22, Plein Air Painting (for adults), 5 to 7 p.m.

• June 23-28, Writing to Heal with Abigail DeWitt.

• June 23-28, Poet Boot Camp (Aaron Smith).

• July 8-13, Acoustic Music Week with Steve Gulley.

• July 12-14, Appalachian Shakespeare Performances of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” free to public — performances are at 6:30 pm in LMU Amphitheatre.

• July 16-20, Painting for Kids (first through fifth grades), 9 to 11 a.m.

• July 16-21, Appalachian Youth Performance Arts Camp (third through ninth grades), 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• July 21:, AYPAC, performance 2:30 p.m.

• July 23-27, Portrait Drawing (adults), 5 to 7 p.m.
