Kids wanting to improve their football skills will have the opportunity on June 16. MAD Academy will be hosting their Mountain Stars Football Camp on that Saturday at the Pineville High School football field.

The event, sponsored by Champion Physical Therapy and Rotary International, will cost $25 for each athlete. Kids between the ages of 5-13 can participate. Anyone who signs up before Saturday will get a t-shirt.

Those wanting to register can do so at www.madacademycamps.com. Late registration will be between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on the day of the camp.

“All instructions will come from ‘mountain boys’ that have played or are playing at the next level,” the brochure states.

The camp will have a variety of station work including: defensive drills and skills, defensive position work, offensive drills and skills, offensive position work, and competitions.

The Mountain Athlete Development Academy’s goal is to bring athletes together that want to be elite players and give them the resources to reach their goal.

“We want to develop mountain athletes,” said Pineville coach Bart Elam in a 2017 interview about the organization. “We want to develop them in a way they’ve never been developed before. That’s through correct coaching, accountability, and setting goals high at an early age.”

MAD Academy follows a three tier approach: year-round clinics, mini camps and competitive travel teams.
