Bell County grabs 8-6 win over McCreary

Bell County continues to gain momentum as they march toward the postseason. On Tuesday, the Bobcats picked up an 8-6 victory against McCreary Central to give the team back-to-back wins with only one game remaining in the regular season.

Bell County fought off a five-run fifth inning from the Raiders and used runs in the fourth and fifth inning to seal the game. The victory came just one day after the Bobcats handed Pineville a 15-3 defeat.

Antonio Zachery and Jordan Wombles paced the team with two runs apiece. Zachery ended the night 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Wombles finished with one hit and one RBI. Ethan Brock scored two runs as well without an official hit.

Jacob Smith and DJ Estes were the most consistent batters for Bell County with both going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Estes picked up the win on the mound while throwing a complete game. He allowed seven hits while tossing eight strikeouts.

Blake Corder led McCreary Central at the plate ending the night with three RBIs and one run on two hits. Thaddeus Baird and Nathaniel Griffis registered one RBI and one run on one hit apiece.

Grant Hammer was credited with the loss on the mound. Through 2 1/3 innings, the sophomore allowed two runs on four hits. Ryan Bruce started the game on the mound allowing six runs on two hits through 1 2/3 innings. Baird closed the game for the Raiders.

Up Next

Bell County (14-11) will conclude the season at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Williamsburg (18-9).

McCreary Central (12-12) will host Pineville (6-18) on Thursday.
