Another summer approaches, and with it all the opportunities to have family-friendly fun in downtown Middlesboro. Summer also marks the beginning of many events that help with revamping the downtown area.
The Wing Fling Festival is coming up, and is celebrating its fourth consecutive year of culinary fun. As always, contestants will participate in a chicken wing face-off.
The contestants will have only five minutes to devour as many wings as they can. Each contestant will receive 4 pounds of wings. The eaters will be allowed to drink water and nothing else during the contest.
The amount of meat eaten will determine the winner.
Not only can the community enjoy a wide variety of chicken wing recipes, a recipe competition and an eating contest, there will also be live music.
The Wing Fling also helps bolster the ongoing goal of revitalizing the downtown area and Middlesboro as a whole.
“Having quality events like the Wing Fling help breath life into our downtown.” said Bell County Tourism Director Jon Grace. “It takes a ton of work….folks like Stephen Cambron, Blake Bowling, Steven Sharp, David Whitlock who put in countless hours to see that this event is a success year after year. Without them and countless other volunteers, events like this couldn’t happen. I know the Wing Fling will be a staple summertime event for our town for years to come,”
The fourth annual Wing Fling Festival is set to begin on Aug. 4.
