The Pineville Interact/Rotary Club in conjunction with the Pineville Players will be putting on a lip sync battle at the Bell Theater on May 23.
The concept of the lip sync battle was popularized by the TV program of the same name that debuted in 2015. The show features celebrities performing lively on stage musical acts lip syncing to songs of their choosing and doing battle with other celebrity contestants.
The Interact Club is under the Rotary Club, and does community service for fun and the betterment of the community as a whole.
The Pineville Players asked the Interact Club to put on the lip sync battle as support for another local community organization.
“We do whatever anybody asks us to do within the community,” said Joanna Foley, Interact leader.
The Interact Club has done everything from planting flowers to volunteering at the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival to helping the local animal shelter and visiting terminally ill children.
The lip sync battle will commence at 6 p.m. with guest DJ John Day. The judges will be Cindy Johnson, Flo Gambrel and Aaron Huff.
“We’re just going to have fun and do community service. I think a lot kids in this area think community service has to be horrible and not fun. We try to make it as fun as possible,” said Foley.
