HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Players announced the cast for its adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” to be performed April 13-22 at the Sam and Sue Mars Performing Arts Center of Duke Hall of Citizenship.
“If music be the food of love, play on,” is one of the many memorable lines from Shakespeare’s famous comedy “Twelfth Night,” also known as “What You Will.” The play is set on the exotic island of Illyria where love is in the air and music fills the heart. Twins, Viola and Sebastian, are separated in a shipwreck and wash ashore on the island. Viola falls in love with Duke Orsino, who is in love with the Countess Olivia. In turn, the Countess Olivia falls in love with Viola, who has disguised herself as a man named Cesario, and the comedy ensues. In this production, the topsy-turvy world of love, songs, disguise and tomfoolery exists in the early 1960s and features the songs of Elvis Presley.
The LMU Players will perform under the direction of Assistant Professor Joe Gill with Musical Director Brandon Coffer and Tiffany Sanchez as technical director.
The cast includes LMU students Emma Henderson as Viola/Cesario, Caleb Knisley as Feste, Timmy Knisley as Orsino, Jessie Lear as Curia, Kat Mohoney as Malvolia, Kendell Daniels as Sebastian, Laurana Duncan as Lady Olivia, Samantha Atkins as Maria, Alexa Livesay as Sir Andrew Ague Cheek, Samantha Stanfill as islanders/party people and Brett Fisher as the sailor/officer.
Community members complete the cast with Clayton Baker filling the role of Sir Toby, Bryce Davis as Fabian, Larry Provost as sailor/officer, Mark Smith as sea captain, Tori Ramsey as Valentina and Ulis Lingar portraying Antonio. The cast also includes LMU alumni Katie Chumley as Nana Pracilla and J. Frank White Academy student Olivia Johnson starring as young Olivia.
