“Josh has been here four years. He has been a big contributor to our program,” said Pineville coach JD Strange. “I think over the time Josh Lawson was involved in our program we were fortunate enough to win the SEKC conference two years in a row. We were also able to win the 13th Region Class A championship back-to-back, and he was a big contributor in all those successes.

“I think for his entire time here he played in 103 games, and during that time the team had a 62-51 record. For Pineville, that speaks volumes for what Josh was able to contribute. We’re very proud of him for what he’s meant to our program and community, and we wish him nothing but the best down the road.”

While Pineville didn’t have a great season overall, Lawson led the team in scoring averaging 11.2 points per game while shooting at a 41 percent clip. He shot 54 percent from the charity stripe as well. He tallied 80 assists and 43 steals.

In the five games that the Mountain Lions won, Lawson averaged 13 points. During Pineville’s loss to Lynn Camp in the 13th Region All A Classic, he tallied 21 points while shooting 73 percent from the field. In his last game as a Mountain Lions, he scored 20 points against Knox Central in the 51st District tournament.
