England named AVP for Academic Support

HARROGATE, Tenn. — Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Vice President for Academic and Student Support Travis Wright has appointed Dr. Allen England as assistant vice president for academic support at LMU.

As assistant vice president for academic support, England will serve as the administrative head of all academic support at LMU. He is responsible for continued growth and development of academic support services at LMU including Student Support Services (SSS), the Tagge Center for Academic Support, tutoring services, the Cornerstone Program, the Office of Mental Health Counseling, Career Services, Accessible Education Services, the Carnegie Vincent Library and International Programs.

England has over 17 years of higher education teaching experience at baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels. He served as a tenured faculty member occupying the J.M. Frost Chair of Christian Education at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisiana. England also served as a full-time faculty of Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Kentucky. Additionally, he has taught adjunctively for The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, and Rawlings Divinity School at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. England also was a guest professor at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana. Throughout his career, he has served as associate pastor in education and executive pastor in Southern Baptist churches in Kentucky, Alabama and Tennessee.

England has spoken widely at conferences and conventions across the country. He has authored numerous articles and coauthored a ministry leadership textbook that is used in a number of seminaries today.

England earned a bachelor of arts degree from Carson Newman University, a master of arts in Christian education and doctor of education degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a master of theology and doctor of philosophy degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Jane, reside in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, and are the parents to two grown sons, Wil and Luke.
