Park to host WiseJAMS music program

BIG STONE GAP, Va. — The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park has announced the 11th semester of the WiseJAMS music program.

WiseJAMS seeks to preserve our important Appalachian mountain music heritage by offering low-cost classes in fiddle, old time banjo and guitar to small groups of students in after-school settings.

Classes will began on Feb. 15 and will run through May 17 for the 2018 spring session. Classes will be held at the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park on Thursdays from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. and will serve students in fourth- through eighth-grades.

Youth who participate in this program are required to attend all weekly classes. During the classes, students will receive an after school snack and a 90-minute instructional session.
