State park announces 2017 Festival of Trees winners

BIG STONE GAP, Va — The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park has announced the winners of the 22nd annual Festival of Trees. Winners were selected based on votes received from Festival of Trees attendees from Nov.12 to Dec. 31.
Winners include: First place — “Tis The Sweetest Season,” LifeCare Ambulance Service, of Wise, Virginia; second place — “The Joy of Pepsi,” Pepsi Bottling Company, of Norton, Virginia; third place — “Adam Loved the Animals,” East Park Avenue Baptist Church, of Norton, Virginia; fourth place — “A Firefighter is a Hero,” Big Stone Gap Fire Department of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; fifth place — “Luke 2:10,” East Park Avenue Baptist Church Women on Mission, of Norton, Virginia; sixth place — “This One’s for the G.I.R.L.S,” Girl Scout Troop 145, of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; seventh place — “Be the Change,” Big Stone Gap Parks & Recreation, of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; eighth place — “Jesus & Our Faith Duties & Freedoms,” Wise County Christian School, of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; ninth place — “Home Alone,” Adam Barnette Art of Pennington Gap, Virginia; and 10th place — “The Lady in Purple Pancreatic Cancer Awareness,” Children and Husband of Yvonne Fannon, of Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
Volunteers around the Southwest Virginia region decorated holiday trees, mantels, doorways and banisters throughout the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park, sharing their talents and holiday spirit with all who visited the site. This year, 81 groups showcased their creativity, creating a truly beautiful collection of displays.
