Pineville falls 82-61 to Lynn Camp

In what was essentially a warm-up game for the 13th Region All A Classic, Pineville hit the road to battle Lynn Camp on Tuesday. The one-loss Wildcats displayed their talents and eased by the Mountain Lions with an 82-61 victory.

Pineville’s struggles continue as the loss was the Mountain Lions second consecutive since earning a win on the road against Thomas Walker on Jan. 4. To date, Pineville has only defeated Oneida Baptist Institute, Owsley County, Oneida (Tennessee) and the Pioneers.

For Lynn Camp, it’s their sixth straight victory since losing to Whitley County on Dec. 15. Of those victories, two took place in the J. Frank White Classic and three were a part of the Forcht Bank Lynn Camp Invitational.

Senior leader Josh Lawson has started coming into his own across the past few games. Despite the loss, the senior guard scored a team-high 23 points while shooting 47.6 percent from the field. He struggled from the free-throw line shooting only 25 percent.

Ben Goodin tallied 15 points on 7-for-13 shooting while grabbing a team-high six rebounds. Clay Goodin chipped in seven points for the Mountain Lions.

Pineville (4-11) will battle Lynn Camp (11-1) again at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the opening round of the 13th Region All A Classic.

Lynn Camp returned to action on Thursday when they hosted Oneida Baptist Institute (5-5).
