An early morning patrol led to an arrest by the Middlesboro Police Department on Dec. 6.

According to the citation, while on routine patrol, Middlesboro Police Department Officer Nick Capps observed a male in a white Ford Explorer getting ready to leave an area around the A.D. Campbell building on Cumberland Avenue. Once the man, later identified as Justin Logan, 30, of Middlesboro, saw Capps he put the Explorer in park and shut the vehicle off. Capps knew that Logan had outstanding warrants so he initiated a stop. Capps stated in the warrant that upon making contact, Logan told him he had “just smoked some pot.” Logan then declined to conduct standard field sobriety tests and gave consent to search his vehicle.

The citation goes on to state that during the search Capps found a baggie containing a clear crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, extra baggies and a digital scale.
