A Middlesboro man reported on the morning on Nov. 17 that somebody had allegedly attempted to break into his residence through the back door while he was there.
According to the police citation, Middlesboro Police Officer Michael Smith was on patrol in the Dorchester area when he noticed a suspicious man, later identified as Michael Houston, 40, of Middlesboro, on a bicycle. Smith noted that Houston looked “extremely nervous.” Smith conducted a stop and asked Houston to get off of the bicycle so a search could be conducted. Houston consented. Upon the search Smith stated that he located hydrocodone pills, two syringes — one empty and one filled with a clear liquid — and two baggies with what was believed to be crystal methamphetamine.
Houston was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking under $500, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), and possessing drug paraphernalia.
