Complaints lead to drug bust

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office said they have received several complaints of drug activity at a residence on Ernest Woodward Road in the Ferndale community.

According to a press release, on Nov. 10 Deputy Patrick Brooks established probable cause to obtain a search warrant on that residence.

According to the police, On Nov. 11, Brooks was assisted by Deputy Jake Perry, James Taulbee, K-9 Kane, Kentucky State Police Trooper Keith Baker, KSP Trooper Josh Messer and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Tyler Teaney when they executed the search warrant on the home of 34-year-old Casey Gray.

The police stated that during the search, the officers located what is believed to be methamphetamine, Ecstasy pills, a large amount of drug paraphernalia and needles all over the home. Gray had a small child living at the home and social services was contacted to remove the child from that environment.

Also according to the police, during the search, three SNAP EBT cards belonging to other individuals were found in Gray’s wallet. She told Brooks that she was “just holding on to them for those people.”

Gray was arrested and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (less than 2 grams of methamphetamine), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (less than 10 dosage units of a drug unspecified), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a minor and fraudulent use of an ID card or electronic code for benefits.

In other police news:

• Charles Evans, 41, of Tazewell, was arrested on Nov. 12 by Middlesboro Police Department Sgt. Barry Cowan on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and shoplifting under $500.

•Michael Houston, 40, of Middlesboro was arrested by Cowan on Nov. 12 on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and shoplifting under $500.

• David Sharp, 27, of Pineville was arrested on Nov. 11 by the Pinevile Police Department on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault (minor injury).

• David Henson, 41, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, was arrested on Nov. 12 on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree possession of a controlled substance (anabolic steroids), second-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of drug paraphernalia and was served four bench warrants.

• Adrian Ballou, 26, of Columbia, was arrested on Nov. 11 by KSP on charges of theft by unlawful taking of $500 or more but under $10,000 (auto), third-degree criminal mischief and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

• Rita Williams, 54, of Middlesboro was arrested on Nov. 10 by MPD Officer Michael Bradley on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, no tail lamps, license to be in possession and was served two bench warrants.
