Home invasion in Middlesboro

The Middlesboro Police Department reported a home invasion on the morning of Oct. 30.

According to reports, MPD Officer Jeremiah Johnson responded to a residence on Exeter Avenue in the vicinity of 35th Street near Shiloh Church.

An 83-year-old woman with hearing difficulty lives at the residence. She was home at the time and stated to Johnson that she believed it happened while she was getting ready for her day between the hours of 5 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

The woman stated she came out of her bathroom to find her back door kicked in and her belongings dumped out on the floor.

Officer Johnson said the suspect or suspects stole approximately $400 cash, two jewelry boxes — with approximately $15,000 worth of jewelry — and two purses out of her bedroom.
