Bell County 4-H members brought home an impressive array of ribbons from the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville. Morgan Lawson took first place in her age division with her 4-H Country Ham Speech. Jude White’s forestry project, a leaf print collection, won reserve grand in the forestry division. And Lexie Brock exhibited a cupcake that was champion in its class.

“My favorite part of my 4-H state fair experience was spending time with my friends, and getting to know them better,” Morgan Lawson stated. “I learned that I am more creative than I ever imagined, I also learned that getting your hands a little dirty can lead you to amazing accomplishments.”

Morgan Lawson is a seventh-grade student at Middlesboro Middle School and is the daughter of Nikki Rains. She was recognized on Oct. 10 during the Bell County Fiscal Court meeting for her state-level accomplishments in the 4-H Country Ham project.

“Bell County 4-H’ers should be proud of their accomplishments at the Kentucky State Fair. To watch them grow, to become more confident, to achieve more and more with each passing year is really amazing. 4-H really does ‘Make the Best Better’, which is our motto,” said Bell County 4-H Agent Brandy Calvert.
