The Middlesboro Mall will soon be transformed into a treasure chest full of prizes, refreshments and family fun as it prepares to celebrate its 34th anniversary this Saturday.

Each year several residents of the community look forward to the mall’s special anniversary event, which serves as a token of appreciation to its many loyal customers. Complete with countless valuable door prizes and free refreshments, the event is certainly one many are sure to mark in their calendars.

This year the door prizes are certain to be as impressive as ever, with over $2,000 worth of gift cards and valuables to be given away, which coordinates exceptionally well with the annual theme being “A Treasure Chest of Prizes.”

“This is my tenth anniversary event and we always have great gifts to give away, which are donated by our tenants,” said Middlesboro Mall office manager Carolyn Widner. “I just love watching people’s’ excitement when their name is drawn and they receive a gift.”

Middlesboro Mall manager, Charles Burchfield, helped organize the event, alongside Widner, both of whom have been a part of the mall’s staff for several years. Their first priority when planning the event was, as always, to ensure it would be enjoyable to all in attendance. The two went above and beyond to do so, with the help of numerous mall tenants.

The anniversary event truly is a clear example of several community businesses coming together to show their utmost appreciation to the loyal customers and citizens of Middlesboro, as the event wouldn’t be possible without the generous donations of prizes and refreshments from various businesses inside the mall.

The abundant slew of door prizes were provided entirely by local businesses, both within the mall and on the outskirts, including: Belk, Brooke Jewelers, Cell World, Cracker Barrel, Eden Salon, Factory Connection, Flex Fitness, Happy Hearts Fitness, JC Penney, Kay Jewelers, Shoe Show Mega, AMC Cinema 4 and Tri State Martial Arts.

Registration for the door prizes will begin at 10 a.m. in the mall’s center court and anyone wishing to have their name entered and must register by 1 p.m. and be present at the time of the drawing.

Free refreshments and snacks will be served at noon, provided by well-known restaurants in the mall, such as He Hu Darz and The Incredible Chocolate Chip Cookie Factory. Middlesboro’s Coca-Cola factory has also offered to contribute soft drinks to the event.

“On behalf of Middlesboro Mall and its tenants, I would like to invite everyone out to help celebrate the mall’s 34th anniversary event. With free refreshments and prizes, everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the fun,” said Burchfield.
