UK Extension Agent Stacey White spent some time with the sixth-grade students of Lone Jack to discuss insects. They learned basic characteristics of the creepy crawlies, as well as indigenous and exotic invasive species. After a very informative question-answer session, the bug hunt began. Students captured ants, ground beetles, crickets and grasshoppers, as well as a few caterpillars – all released soon after. Students enjoyed participating in this hand-on nature lesson.
